Does the Ceann Comhairle have a vote on legislation?

    And if not, is this not a bit unfair on the people of his or her constituency? Dun Laoghaire now has one fewer TD to represent them, unless it's the case that he still gets to cast a vote...

    In the event of a tie, he casts the deciding vote. AFAIK.

    In normal circumstances i dont think so but if the house is split i beleive he or she can cast their vote.

    the Dáil votes under a whip system so it really does not matter, whatever the Government votes for passes

    the people elected the Government

    the people elected the TDs in a certain proportion that led to the Government is my point

    dun laoghaire has 3 government TDs, the fact that one is CC will mean little to their representation

    Well not really. The people of DL elected him as part of FG. If FG need him to push through a piece of legislation, he'll do so. It's pretty much the same for most backbenchers.
