    Ya. Using a modern audio interface that doesn't have pads on the mic inputs? Not interested in making your own?

    Or: have a "plug in power" mic that you like the sound of? Want to use it with a real mic pre?

    Yup - I use them from my machine room computer to keyboard and mices - I also use the DV to Cat extenders for monitors.

    Anyone got any other cheap useful things they'd like to share.

    A scissors, some old cable, solder iron and solder, rubbery heat shrink thingmy sleeve, cigarette lighter to shrink the rubbery thingy. If you make your own cables - you'd be surprised how sturdy they can be and how professional they look.
