For info for those who can remember,

Clare Daly ( she of Socialist Party fame) was elected to the Dail , and is an ex-president of DCU Students Union ( in and around 1991, when I was a student there. ) .

there's some trivia for you !

Unions are socialist by nature.... Never did like the DCU SU in my four years here either.... However Megan and Collie have done a fairly good job in my opinion this year.

Funny enough the President and Vice President this year are marketing graduates - A very capitalist subject....

Really? The ULA dont have any economic policies so did she not take a module in that? If she did she should really start organizing things with their membership. With all due respect to them, their ignorance of economics is a disgrace for a marxist party. if they used real economics with the membership Id join tomorrow. Went to one meeting at the gresham recently. they complained about being bust and then got everyone there to fork out. With all the expenses the party is now entitled to, and the fact they were in the gresham saying they were broke said it all really.

That's pretty interesting, what was the general opinion of the SU back then?

I find the prospect of any of the past or present SU from my time in DCU taking Dail seats to be a pretty terrifying prospect for the country!

The big thing for us was fees ( as they existed back then , Tuition, Registration was about 50 quid ) , no campus accomodation, etc.

I thought she was CS. Definitely not part of the AF gang that I knew.

Not even sure if she graduated in the end.
