Vinage Tax by the Quarter?

I googled an answer for this everywhere but can't seem to get an answer.

Can you pay Vintage tax on a classic just for a Quarter instead of a whole year? Reason being I just want the VLC for a classic to be issued/released from shannon (as it was never taxed since vrt'd) just to allow me to sell it for a friend, but the road tax disc itself is worthless to me as its not on the road.

    Any idea.

    Thanks.

Nope. Can only be for the year. It has on the form that it is not an option. Sure €48 hardly will break the bank?

iuf its a friend, just give him the form you have and he can tax it wehen hes ready. Often did that myself.

    Thanks all,

Ahhhhh shure I'll just add the €48 to the price of the car so it isn't the issue, just want the document prior to the sale as I have a buyer for it in the Uk and it'll need to be "in hand" for a viewing if you get me. Still, thanks for the clarification and info.

    I'm not feeling sympathetic, OP...

Before lunch I paid my tax (plus 2 months arrears :pac:) on my 1983 for the year - €736.

That's half of what I paid for the car.

pardon my french, but putting the sale of a car you obviously want to sell, at risk for the sum of €48 is just petty.

And as for 'adding' the €48 ? - are you for real ? Are you trying to say you're not going to haggle by a mere €48 to sell a car ? Or is €48 more than the price of the car in the first place.

My 'classic' costs €1293 p.a., so zero sympathy from me tbh........

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

To be fair to the OP I don't think he was looking for sympathy - just advice!

I only used the word as I will feeling grumpy after paying a chunk.

Actually to be fair to the OP it's the principle.

A car has been imported and cleared, but as it wasn't used, not taxed. Therefore no Vehicle Registration Certificate has been issued. It's likely to take a hop back across the water, so it'll be handy to have a VRC for it to get it re-registered in the UK. But between arriving and departing it hasn't been used on the road.

Seems a miserable of the authorities not to issue the Vehicle Registration Certificate once the Vehicle Registration Tax has been paid.

    Couldn't agree with you more!

    Thanks Gents,

Yes, its the principle of it, but thats the money grabbin' system we have to live with.
The RF100 was filled in today, got it stamped in the local cop shop, and went to the motor tax office and paid the €48 euro for road tax that will never be availed off, as the car is in a shed, being detailed and buffed in anticipation of a UK buyer arriving in the coming days who I have a price agreed with, subject to the viewing.
And yes, we added €50 notes to the price of the car to get this VLC out in the post from Shannon, so yes, I'm for real.

@ Galwaytt, to be clear, I never sought the sympathy of you or anyone, I was seeking information from the informed here on this good forum. Reread my posts if you have to before you post anything more mean spirited on this matter. I think with posts like that, you are coming across like a prat.

    OP,

Provided the vehicle hasn't been been used in a public place at any time since the issue of the disc....

Wait for the VRC to turn up. Get form RF120 (pdf). Fill it in and get it stamped at the Garda station. Apply for refund.

Let us know how you get one. That's the only way I think you can do it.

ahhh, brilliant........will do, as the car will be off to the Uk so the disc can go back to where it came from!:p

    Thanks macplaxton.

Great, personally I applaud any effort to keep the money in your pocket and not go on to fund criminal gangs/the government.

Whether you meant it or not, sympathy is exactly what it looks like you were looking for. You post up some story about a car you don't own, and trying to get a VLC for it, and moaning about the €48 involved, so you can get money from some guy travelling from the UK....?? Technically, you shouldn't be getting a VLC for it at all - you're not the owner - by your own admission. BTW - who's name did you sign on the Non-use section of the RF - your's, or the owner's......... ??

Well, it might be an idea for you to read my posts instead, before you call anyone - me included - a prat.

Me ? I actually own, and have legal title to the vehicles I have the VLC's for - and I'm no stranger to the VLC/VRT arena.........

I acted as an agent for an elderly gent, who was a friend of the family if you want some background to the "story". He was guided thru' the process, he signed all forms and declarations. I was paid commission on the sale.I'm personally delivering the car to the uk also in the coming weeks, that was part of the deal also. It's quite simple really, and if dont or dont want understand it, thats your call. Or maybe you need help? - In that case,I suggest maybe a few minutes on the kids DS doing the Braintraining everyday?;)

and with a post like that, you seem like an even bigger nitpicking prat than you already are.:P
