Crown Procuedure - Post Stage 1

I had the first stage done and I have been fitted with a temporary crown. I have to go back in three weeks for the permanent fitting.

Is the temporary crown generally cemented, I am just concerned as to how fragile it is. I have been told to avoid eating on that side if possible.

Should I also take it easy brushing in the area.

    Many thanks.

Temporary crowns are exactly as the name suggests, temporary. They are usually made from a white resin which hardens in the mouth. Sometimes they are cemented with temp cement, sometimes they are held in position by "shrink fit" ie the harden around the tooth underneath and grip it. We want to be able to get them off at fit appointment without doing to much drilling so they are not as strong as a permanent crown. they are very easy to recement/remake if they come off so do not worry, just take your dentist's advice until you have the permanent one fitted and avoid biting on hard/chewy foods.
