Can anyone find an article for businesses having to accept legal tender to pay for a service?

You are perfectly entitled to state how you will transact your business, e.g. coins only, credit card only, no notes over €50.

In my college we have to use a coin machine to top up a card so we can print off sheets. Last year the machine accepted 10 and 20 cents but this year only 1 and 2 euro are accepted
So im wondering since they do not accept 10,20 and 50cents, are they denouncing legal tender and are they breaking the law or are they within their rights to do this?

Yes they are within their rights.

    This comes up regularly.

Legal tender must be accepted for debts.

Rough example: you're buying something in the shop, the shop can refuse legal tender and not sell the item, but if, in a restaurant where you have already eaten a meal, legal tender must be accepted. Something along those lines.
