Hi this is my first time posting on here so please bear with me . I have a few questions im hoping some of you on here may be able to help me with . Ok im a part time selfemployed sole trader . What ive been doing for the past 2 yrs is selling paper rolls etc to vat registered businesses in Munster . My business really is only in its infantsy . I am vat registered and keep accounts . My question is this , can i sell branded products to the non vat registered general public , as in door to door sales , products such as andrex toilet paper , bold washing powder barry s tea etc . ? I presume i need to charge vat and keep all dockets on sales but do i need to include each customers name and address on each docket even though their not vat paying customers ? Shops just give out receipts from the cash register so can i just write out a docket and not bother with name and address on the top ? Also is there anything unders terms and conditions of some brand names where you would need their permission to sell their products ? Also is there any sites on the internet where i can source wholesalers etc as at the moment i just buy from my local cash and carry . Alot of questions i know but even if i could get a few answers i would greatly appreciate it . I just like to try my best to do things by the book : )

    Hi Novaboy,

You don't need the names of all non registered customers however you must charge them VAT and record the sale ie. date amount vat etc........

I wouldn't say there is anything stopping you from selling door to door of branded items unless you may need a sellers licence but you can ask the local gardai/council for information on that.

Your best bet in terms of sourcing the best prices for your products would be to go directly to the company and ask them who you should deal with, they may even supply you if the orders are big enough.

Fair play for doing this legit and good luck with it.
