Self-locking Micra??

    Hey,

Sorry if this has been posted before, I only checked quickly! Anyway I have a 99 Nissan Micra GX and sometimes the doors just lock automatically as I'm driving along. On a couple of occasions I've literally just sat down in the driver's seat and the doors lock. It doesn't really bother me (I have a spare key so the chance of being locked out is slim) but I'd like to know what's causing it...? The most popular theory amongst friends and family is that she's possessed :p

Some cars re-lock if the central locking thinks it's been unlocked by mistake.

If the little switch that tells the car that the door is open gets stuck, sometimes caused by extreme cold, then it will not know the door opened and will relock. Another symptom of a sticking door switch will be the interior light not switching on when the door is open.

Hmmm I have no idea what an aftermarket alarm is (its my first car and I've only had her a few months) but there's no car alarm on it if that's what you're referring to...thanks for the other replies!

I had the same problem with mine.It was a problem with the c/l motor on the front passenger door.I found out by unpluging the block connector from back of the motor and the problem stopped.
