We went in summer 2011. The weather was very bad but you can't blame the campsite for that.
Facilities are good with great slides into a lakewater pool and a very good pool complex. You couldn't swim in the alike itself. Amazing beaches very nearby but be careful as water is very dangerous.

San Sebastien is a day trip and is well worth the visit. Some lovely places to see in the Pyr as well (again, a day trip).

Overall I was very impressed and probably would have been more so if the weather had played ball.

Hi guys, just resurrecting this thread for opinions on whether to go in early June or late August (both have cheapest ferries) and we are flexible.

Thinking in terms of weather and how busy/quiet the camp would be.

August would be 18 Aug to 31 Aug

Kennyb3, that time of year, the campsite will be/should be jumping! weather will be great too - actually, hot. If you can manage it, book a mobile with air-conditioning. If not, it's worthwhile to buy a couple of fans in the local Leclerc/SuperU/Intermarche. They're €10-€20 euro, and you can keep them to use again - or just abandon them if you're flying. Haven't been in Sylvamar, but have been in Soustons and Arcachon and Biscarrosse that aren't too far away on the same stretch of coast.
