Looking for accounting package that handles Irish EFT payments to suppliers

    Hi,

Am setting about changing the accounting package in an SME client company. One feature that was requested is supplier payments via EFT. I have used TAS books before (old version) and that was a feature but could never get it to work (no IT support available). The TAS current site is a bit unclear if current versions still do it or is it an add on.

Any experience of this or recommendations out there?

    tks

    Hi OP,

What exactly do you want the accounting package to do - Do you want your accounts package to integrate with your bank?

    Didn't realise this was possible.

We use Navision in work and it creates an EFT file you can send to your bank, not involved in the payments side of things myself though, so can't really give any more info.

It does depend on the bank you use but I believe bank of ireland provide a piece of software called winbits which can be used to transfer whatever file is created via modem to their systems.
That said I think BoI are eager to move away from this system to Business Online which I assume is an upload of whatever file is created.
I am not sure of any app that seamlessy integrates with it however.

Ah - I've got you now. I set up batch suppliers (or more often) individual suppliers through the banking system and pay that way.

For some companies with larger supplier ledgers, setting up suppliers on banking on line can be too time consuming and lax in security.

The more modern way is for the accounts package/system to create one file, that you upload to your banking on line.
Most packages do this as a basic standard.

A lot of packages/systems have gone futher than just creating a file, they now analyse credit terms, discounts, products, budgets, by department/county/currency etc.

tks for all the suggestions, might look at Tasbooks again - its probably the best fit (service company so no stock or anything) and just the right side of €500. Never liked those tiny screens tho!!

    tks folks

    Hi Op,

In Tas (certainly in the latest version) you should be able to enter supplier payments and then create a file that you can send to the bank in order to process these through bank transfer.

If you have an older version of Tas that does not have that functionality you should be able to upgrade it.

    I am connected to Tas.
