Eurozone: co-ordinated governance

My question relates to the direct and co-ordinated governance of the Eurozone.

It worries me slightly to consider that there is still no routine schedeuled Eurozone bloc forum of the constituent Heads of Eurozone States.

We have Euro Group, where the Eurozone finance ministers meet while attending the ECOFIN conferences, but that's it. No heads of state of the Eurozone procedurally sit down together in a room outside of their wider EU conferences attended by the full European (non Euro) outfit. Is it any wonder that there has been such an unco-ordinated advancement of the single currency model over the past decade with such an awkward and indirect means of communication?

I recall reading, very briefly, an article in the FT about a month back in relation to a plan being drawn up for Eurozone heads of state to meet on a regular basis in their capcity as Eurozone leaders as opposed to EU Leaders. Any more on this?

I believe the same article also mentioned giving greater clarity and function to the Euro Group finance ministers meetings, but as yet I don't really see anything forthcoming.
