Where to check-in

I've heard it's better to check in and go through security in Terminal 1 and walk over to terminal 2, instead of checking in directly at terminal 2, because you have to go up two floors down1 up 1 more to get to your gate. Is this the case?
How long is the walk - as long as that going to Ryanair?
Is it true you can't get collected at Departures in Terminal 2, as you can (but you're not supposed to) in Terminal 1?

I've moved your thread to Travel for a greater audience and am presuming you mean Dublin Airport. Your post could apply equally to any number of airports with more than one terminal served by Ryanair!

Thank you, I get a bit confused with the forums. I sort of didn't realize that I could post directly into Travel.
Yes, I meant Dublin and am flying Aer Lingus.

Aer Lingus is in T2 now. Yes in T2, check in is on the ground floor and security is in the 2nd floor and the airside shop, bar, burger king, duty free etc is in the second floor after the security and going down again to the gate. In T1, check in, security, airside shop etc are on the same floor. After the security in T1 turn left and walk about 10 min. If you want to go to the duty-free, you have to go up the lift or escalator.

As regard to check in. All aer lingus check in in T2 with a exception of flight number from EI3000 to EI3999 check in T1 because these flight are operating by Aer Arann for Aer Lingus
