    Hi guys,

I'm in the process of organising a charity cycle film night and would appreciate any suggestions on cycling films. Ideally a film which would have wider appeal outside of cyclists. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

I haven't seen this but it's got some decent reviews. I'm sure someone here can confirm weather or not this is to cycling what 'Escape to Victory' is to football

Also the trailer for this Fausto Coppi film looks good if you fancy something a little more artistic

Le vélo de Ghislain Lambert which is good but in French.

American Flyers which I haven't seen.

The Shay Elliot documentary is good would be ideal as it's Irish.

The Flying Scotsman is a good film and would be an idea as Graeme Obree is in the news again.

Walking Tours of Kilkenny in English, French or German.

Some of the MTB films are excellent:
Roam (http://www.thecollectivefilm.com/roam/index_roam.html) is a particularly good one.

How does this go?. Would this be for people willing to support but dont really cycle?. Would this be in a community hall or something?, never heard of such a thing but sounds like a good idea.

I'm looking to raise money for a charity cycle I'm planning to do later in the year. I would be looking to hold it in a community hall and charge maybe a tenner a head with all money going to the charity.

American Flyers is a deadly show!

It's got everything - Americans v the Russians. It's even got a pair of boobs in it. Back then every single movie, regardless of the them, had to show a pair at some stage. :D

Just try getting your hands on a copy. I've googled around a few times on various occasions to no avail.

    +1 on Breaking Away

A brilliant film that will appeal to everyone, even people who hate cycling, and is also (unlike The Flying Scotsman) suitable for all age groups.

I'm also a fan of Ghislain Lambert, but its probably a bit too long, a bit too Belgian.

Haven't seen this Louis Malle film 'Vive Le Tour', other than the bits on youtube, but it looks good:

    Oh yeah...

    Cycle of Betrayal is good

    Kind of depressing though

I just youtubed it and watched a couple of clips. The fcukin cycling scenes are hilarious. It looks like the director insisted that low gears and the highest cadence possible was the best way to portray an illusion of speed :D. They're all bouncing out of their saddles at 170 rpm like a bunch of monday morning house-wives in a spinning class :D
