Sometime ago you may recall , the best thing i did this year was to give away a NSU Prinz. Which i had left out in the rain for 3 years following the 20 years it had lived in a shed. I called in to the chap who now owns it and has spent a lot of hours on it. Here are some pics.

the car was in very good condition in places, though the sills here were rotten.

several days work went into cleaning the wheels and painting them white, brand new tyres were fitted.

New wing fitted to driver side

some amazing good metal in here, you can see the new wing that was fitted.

nice to see it being resurrected, do you have any before pics?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,785 ✭✭✭rugbyman

I dont know if he took any before pics. To restore a car and not do so is a sort of a minor crime. imo.

I bought two of these from the Uk on Ebay, left them in a another persons yard while I was being harassed by the County Council. After two years, one of them disappeared and I did not ask. I gave the other one ,this one ,to a good home ,for the price of a cup of tea. Pity i had not done it a year earlier and given two cars, could have had a scone as well

Pics of the mechanical rebuild to follow when my son puts them up.

All being well ,plans to be out this summer

If anyone on here has any parts to donate or knows of any pls PM me.

There is an NSU fan in this country who has lots of old stock, new parts and quite a number of them are going into this car.

    More later

    Thanks Rotorhead
the fellow doing this car is a member and knows all the connections. Irl,Uk And Germany
He is spending more money than he has available on this car , he is not envisaging this car not being perfect(ok teacher double negative).

I just mentioned the bits comment as a maybe, maybe someone has a new part somewhere that they would donate, even something he already has can be bartered with somone else, I know that in donating the car ,i did the best thing (for me)
The engine is completely reconditioned, details with pics later.

Cool, thanks for posting Rugbyman !

I used to absolutely hate those things with a passion, they were so old and odd looking when compared to contemporary cars. However I worked with a chap, when I was an apprentice, who worked at the assembly plant, and he recounted many stories with great enthusiasm. This got me interested in them and just recently I was trying to recall the last time I had seen one.

I would love to look at a good example. Anyone know if there are any TTS's left in Ireland ?

My pal and I bought one of these, a prinz 3 for a fiver, rallied it around a quarry until it died
    and left it there!

If I applied to join the owners club , that alone should get me blackballed.

merc mad asked about tts', rotorhead answered about tt's

The fellow who is restoring the red one above has a pretty damn brilliant tt, original irish car

    regards,Rugbyman

Forty years ago ! the bloody quarry is prob not still there. it was blue as i recall, never paid the guy the fiver,
About a year later he contacted me, and I went up and paid him, he had not been ringing about the fiver but about some query the council had about the tax book,

    Regards ,Rugbman
