Where to put 15-20k

As the title says, I want to put 15-20k away for a period of 3-4 yrs.
All I want is a nice safe deposit with a reasonable return, all of the banks are trying to sell products which gamble some/part of your money on stocks/shares which is not what I want!
    Any suggestions welcome.

All depends on what your understanding of "safe" and "reasonable" is.

As you said you don't want stocks so they're out. As will be commodities; I'm bearish on bonds in the short/medium term, so maybe best to just go for a term deposit account.

Maybe a 1 year term deposit, which you could roll over at the end of the year. You can get 1 year with Nationwide UK at 3.65%. I wouldn't be too happy locking in a 3/4 year rate in an inflationary environment.

Thanks soddy, I'm not sure how Nationwide UK would be of benefit to me living in Ireland but I get the gist of your post:)
