Was hoping I could get rough estimate of prices to expect for the following parts for Silver Focus 00

    -Rear Bumper
    -Left Wing Mirror unit
    -Boot locking unit

    Cheers

Wouldn't suggest go to scrapyards, better look in to people who sell parts .. donedeal, advert , gumtree.. etc., off course you can shop around... many cars going breaking ... people cant afford keep them, and cant sell...

Stuff from breakers have been sitting in the rain and mud for an unknown amount of time, then again you can get lucky.
If you can source from a person breaking you know it has been cared for until recently.

Got a front bumper for an impreza last year €70,

Door €50. If you were spending that chance hagging for the boot unit

and get them to throw it in for free. :)

Don't want to upset you here but would you not just ring around a few scrap yards and get actually prices?

Traynors in Armagh are quite good. http://www.traynors.co.uk/
And with something like a Silver focus you should not have much trouble finding a few being dismantled.

Just wanted a rough idea. Never bought anything from breakers before so wouldn't know if I was being ripped off or not. Im gonna into one tomorrow near me but would like to know roughly what to expect.

40-50 for the rear bumper dependent on colour/ condition
20-30 for the mirror, again, colour/ condition dependent
a tenner for the boot latch.

you can haggle at breakers, so feel free to say "ah will you do it all for 75" or whatever, or if i buy the mirror and bumper, throw in the latch for fee etc etc.

They can vary wildly depending on the parts. Given you are looking for parts for a very popular car, they should be cheap enough. Try a main dealer first and to see what the retail prices are and then work off that.

tbh most dismantlers pull the prices out of their arses so do sound shocked at any price they give you then bargain them down as much as you can. If a part has a retail price of 100 euro I'd be giving 25/30 max for a second hand one, for a focus.

This site should help you on your way...

As the above poster said , Traynors are your best bet. Think they still deliver to the green isle hotel. Prices in € and if your not happy with it you can leave it on the truck. Parts are not lying around in the rain and mud either

for a very small premium they do next day courier to your house/ work too. and they offer 3 months warranty on mechanical/ electrical items so they are a little more secure than most breakers.
