Hi! I hope you are all well and enjoying the nice weather! I currently have a gas fire which we rarely use. It was installed about 7/8 years ago and looks very shabby. I would really like to install a modern, efficient gas fire in its place. A friend of mine has a really nice, glass fronted, gas fire which I really liked.

Could you advise me on what my options are?
Where are the best places in the Dublin area to go about purchasing a gas fire?
What sort of cost would be involved with taking out the current gas fire and installing the modern one?

Thank you for all & any advice;I appreciate it.

    Arequipa.

I find heating distributers in finglas have a good range of fires. Fitting costs would start at about 180 upwards IMO.

    Thank you for your response.

Is there a really good, modern looking, energy-efficient gas fire you'd recommend from the Heat Distributors Finglas catalogue?

    Thank you!

I like the look of the Elle, Jazz & Enchant fireplaces; maybe you which would be the most energy efficient & best value?

    Thank u!

I don't know which would best value. But it'll be a big job to install one of those fires, hole in wall type, if there's only a standard fireplace/builders opening. Make sure you get a proper quote before you buy the fire.

    Hey I've got a Faber Relaxed L

It's glass fronted, remote-controloperated, room sealed unit and sounds just like what you're looking for.

The flame is lovely (takes about ten minutes to come into its own - but then looks the biz) The heat level is good too (and our living room is quite large - approx 20ft x 25ft with 9ft ceiling.)

we have the fire on most nights at the mo usually for about two to three hours - usually set high for the first hour or so and then turned down after a while.

At this rate a 34kg cylinder of propane lasts about 5 weeks (the cylinders are about about €80 each time - but the cost is made up for by us not really using the central heating as much)

I have to say i really like the fire (and we use it now a lot more than I thought we would). The fact that it's room sealed is also good (though I still have a carbon monoxide alarm nearby!).

It was dear enough to buy and install (I think I spent the best part of 3 to 4k in getting the whole thing bought and set up but it was a while back so definitely don't quote me on that.)

Overall I think it was a good buy though - I got it from Flame By Design in Cork - the installation service seemed fine to me. I know that's not much good to you are you're in Dublin, but have a look at the Faber website anyway and see what you think.

No affiliation with any company mentioned by the way - just a happy customer.
