    Hi all;

    I am planning to run once a week from Lucan to town. Work doesnt have a shower so i need to find a gym in town where i can shower and head off to work. I dont want to pay top membership or a yearly membership either as this will be only from May to Oct.

    Markevic seems to be the only one I can think off
    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    I paid 170 for an annual membership in Ben Dunnes Jervis St. gym and all I use it for are the showers. I run in most days though so am getting value for money, might be excessive for once a week use. The Mespil pool may be an option either.

    I think if you are only running into town once a week, then none of the membership gyms will be good value for you. Some of them are great value if you are using the facilities a few times a week but you are much better sticking with pay as you go for what you are planning to do.
    Besides Markevic, there is also the YMCA gym on Aungier Street which is around 5 eur pay as you go.

    Most offer 1 free trial before you sign - that should cover 8 weeks or so ;)

    I read an letter in the Sunday Times concerning the redevelopment of the public toilet block at Trinity in the City Centre, the writer was from Trust, a homeless charity, and she said they proposed back in 2006 to redevelop the toilets into a shower block. I initially thought it was for public use which I thought would be a great idea for commuters such as the OP, as long as it was fully supervised and maintained. I didn't realise who Trust were at the time and that it was for homeless people but something similar, along with possible secure bike parking, would be good.

    I use the pool in the Markaviez centre a bit. It's s great resource
    but sometimes it can be a bit uncomfortable. Few weirdos knocking around the changing rooms and last time there was a homeless guy washing his clothes in the sink when I went to wash my hands!

    Such a shame as it has a great pool! (will still use it)

    It's a perfect spot for a shower if you're running in, just bring a lock!
