Here are the clearer pics from ebay :

    Pic A

    Pic B
    attachment.php?attachmentid=150807&d=1299541721

The thing is however these are very bad fakes. They would be fairly suspicious to most people who have been collecting for a while, but here is an interesting thread which relates that some of these have been going for 900+euros

    http://70.87.163.50/forums/showthread.php?t=477983

The thing of it is that this example on ebay and militaria321 is based on a picture stolen from my website :

    http://www.militaria-archive.com/studio/content/Foto06_large.html

    Foto06.jpg

The reason I know it is the exact same picture and not a copy is because of the dust stain on the forehead. Anyway - the moral of the story is be very careful of anything with SS on it !!!!

    Well done Morlar!

Also consider reporting this guy if he stole your copyrighted images!

...and the funniest thing about it is, that yer man on the photograph is not even a member of the SS. Just an ordinary panzer man.

BTW will have to check that album, Sudetenland, hmmm.

Those poor bidders, have you reported these on the auction sites?.Talk about it,not only is he doing copyright theft he's also forging documents and seemingly getting away with it.There's one born everyday and makes you wonder how many more of these con artists are out there.

It would also be odd that H.H signed every single ID card personally.

The ebay one is creeping up :

I have reported it using ebay's prefilled in form. it does not make it easy if you dont fit the category. I would advise anyone else with an ebay account to report this one also.

I have now reported this new listing 3 times in the last 24 hours and ebay have not removed it. I think this shows they have very little interest in protecting their customers from being ripped off.

I take it back, they removed it :

Fair play to them but I wish their process was more efficient, in reporting items you are forced to choose from picklists which do not always apply. Also there is no feedback beyond a form email saying 'thank you for reporting' etc.

Also, no mention of the user being removed etc.

super-einkaufen ( Feedback Score Of 150Teal star icon for feedback score in between 100 to 499)

    100% Positive feedback

    Still there selling pure crap.

I reported this one again when I saw it yesterday, got the same email you mention. As you say having to choose from a pick list which does not cover all areas for me is somewhat inadequate. It really limits what you can cover and the message section at the bottom also limits you in what you can add to the report. No doubt this will crop up for sale many more times with these kind of sellers out there and unless the auctions are spotted some unknowing collectors will be caught out.

That same seller is selling a ton of crap. Including Fantasy Totenkopf beltbuckles, a document for a Wound Badge in Gold no less, awarded to . . . an SS man no less, for service in . .. Stalingrad. SS in Stalingrad ? Hmm. Also clear faked Grand Cross etc. Pure drivel and 100% feedback. He is ripping off literally hundreds of people to the tune of thousands of euros and all ebay will do is remove the odd item he posts. You would have to wonder legally what the ebay position is in something like that, they are fully aware of exactly what is going on but just want the comission $$$.

This stuff really sickens me and it's gotten to the stage where you can't trust most sellers. I've been collecting a few years but just haven't got the expertise necessary to spot the telltale signs on certain fake items and you just feel like a sitting duck if you're not careful.

almost everything he is selling looks fake....

eBay is famous as an outlet for fakes. EG pretty much the majority of antiquities on ebay are fakes(hilariously laughable usually). As a general principle treating damn near all wristwatches from former soviet bloc countries as fake will save you money. eBay is also well known for basically not giving a crap in pursuing such fakers. Now because they can sign up again and again I see some excuse in that, but not much of one. Boards/Adverts.ie sitebans reregs easily enough.

TBH unless the collectable is cheap as chips or you really really know your subject I'd avoid ebay. Indeed even when the stuff isn't fake ebay prices have gone up and up as people assume it's gonna be cheap there. IMHO and it's what I do, is buy from fellow collectors on the various good special interest forums out there. Far less likely to be burned and 99 times outa 100 cheaper too.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
