This is the most important part. Do not post the application. Go to your Motor tax office.

I don't know if its the same, but my friend passed her driving test, went straight to the motor tax office to apply for her licence and had it at home within a week. So if you do what previous posters have advised you might be able to get in time.

Some people have done even better than that, and had their Permit/Full license in their hands the day they went down, as the nice people in the MTO printed the permit/license there and then.

OP just make sure you get down to you MTO asap after passing, and even mention it to them that you need it asap due to the new regulations.

    best of luck.

Yeah im in the same boat, passed last weekend of february got 40 but im only 16 and not 17 until the 1st of april so i have about 4 hours to pick up my licence before the new laws come in. The only comfort i have is that 3 or 4 of my friends who passed their theory got their licence on the day from the Cork MTO (where im based).

apologies for going off OP's question but my missus is in the same boat..

she has passed the theory test but just need to apply for the licence.. she did the theory in dublin, can she apply for the licence in wexford (My main house residence address is there if it makes any difference)??

Also checking dublin city council, it says to medical report will be required if You answer ‘Yes’ to any of the medical questions on Application Form D201. She will be getting an eye test report.. but from the form D201 I found, under health and fitness questionaire, it asked whether the applicant wear glasses/spec.. does that 'yes' means she;ll need to do a medical..

Doesn't seem to make sense considering the eye test report and that it wasn't specified in note J of form D201..

    Anyone can share some comment?

I know that, what I meant was that I'm only 17 on the 1st and that's a Friday anit closes at 4 and is not open on the weekends.

Alright I see what you mean, I'd put on a sympathy case with the person at the motor tax office. They might be in a good mood and issue you LP that day. It's worth a shot foxhole.
