    HEY BIKERS,
    wanted to buy a bike for a while now so went into my local shop. talked with th the nice lad in the store. he showed me a couple of bikes and i liked the look of a GARY FISHER 19.
    anyone heard of this make ?
    will be using bike to cycle to work and maybe the odd trail in dublin mountains.
    any thoughts?

    Gary Fisher (the brand) is part of Trek but I suspect the bike you were looking at is not a 2011 model - as far as I know Trek are no longer producing Gary Fishers as a seperate brand!
    Gary Fisher (the man) was one of the founding fathers of mountain-biking!

    Yea they still produce them, but since last year as The Gary Fisher Collection, I'm not sure how exactly they differ from the Trek bikes themselves though

    the name of the bike i was lookiing at was "FISHER TARPON" 420 euro.

    so gary fisher is a legend.

    Yes, but don't get carried away, the bike won't be much better (or worse) than any other bike in the same price bracket.

    Modern bikes are simply just a sum of their parts, all mass produced.
    Forget about the name on the frame, and judge a bike by the quality of the parts on it -i.e. Is it running low, mid or high level Shimano or SRAM components.
    Your bike for €420 will be low level, but will do the job.
