Penalty points on an expired licence

    Hi Guys,

    Cant find anything on this in the forum but i have a question about a driving licence and penalty points.

    I recently got caught speeding, (59km in a 50km limit). Must have been one of those mobile units, happened on the Lower Kimmage Road, don't know of any cameras there.

    Anyway, when going to pay the fine I have just realized that my licence is out of date by a few month, will this have any effect on the whole process?

    Will the points still carry over to the new one when I get it renewed?

    They will as your licence number will be the same on the database along with your details.

    Yea thats what I was thinking alright, dont think you could beat the system that easily.

    probably get a few more points fro driving with an expired license.:D happy days!
