I’m self employed as a sole trader and I’m looking to buy a car (not commercial) Can it be done that way and if so what tax implications are there for me if I do?

    Thanks in advance

buy it yourself privately and charge mileage to your business expenses. That's the easiest way.

    have a look here:
    http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/leaflets/it51.html

be very carefull when defining "home" and "place of work"...

also, what drive me crazy is those rates were set when petrol price was 1.10/1.20... now, with the "american black gold dream" going forever, the price at the pump is gone mad ,over 1.50.

how do we compensate for the difference ? are they going to increase the rate ? or...?

    tia
