Anyone here done this before? Entries seem to be limited to 1000 people. Just wondering if it's all super fast people doing it? I haven't found any results from last years anyway, although I'm not sure if the race was on last year.

I see it takes in most of the first 5K of the Great Ireland Run.

Yep, did this one last year. Good mix of standards do it and was fairly well organised.

This race is very fast - net downhill, with the hill at Military Road being the only uphill part. PB central.

Most races do have a good mix of runners. You can always check on racepix for photos of the previous year and see if anyone there looks slower than you :)

Was a great race last year and it is a fast course but it is open to all standards. Just a short climb at about 3.5 K to 4 K otherwise pretty flat and down the Kyber!:)

caved to no pressure at all bar the little men on my shoulder urging me on and entered this :)

Not sure if I am doing this. There's a nice collection of 5K's dotted around Dublin next month:

    Leixlip 5k
    Donore Summer 5k
    Lucan 5k
    Darkness into Light 5k

    Plenty of choice :)

Hmm no offence, But there is no way in hell I'd actually consider a time run in a course with that much of a net downhill a PB! Funny enough, I actually ran a "PB" in the 1st 5k in the Great Ireland 10k a few wks back, where it was a very similar course as someone pointed out, but I did not consider it a pb at the time at all due to the downhill!

Disagree with you here.Would you consider a pb if there was too much uphill?

We are not running for the olympics ffs.

If I [as a social runner] run 5k [or any distance] in a faster time than I have done it before in an organsied race then I am considering it a PB, even if that run consisted of me falling off a cliff, straight down 5k :)

Maybe when Im starting to compete for a place on the IAAF Golden League series, we can start to get picky, until then, Im doing it for me and no one else and if I run faster than before, its a PB and sod the course elevation [or whatever!]

Ha, sorry I really seemed to have hit a nerve here, no offence meant (especially if any of you's are involved in organizing it or anything!) , But for me anyway (and I'm definitely not going to the Golden league, I'm just an average 16.xx 5k club runner), if it has a large net downhill then no I personally wouldn't consider it a PB. (how much of a downhill is in this 5k anyway, 30/50metres, and again is that a large net downhill?) But anyway, Thats just my opinion, of course for most fun runners who are getting fit etc, things like the amount of training and type of training and their dedication etc are going to contribute far more to achieving a PB then simply showing up and running on a really quick net downhill course.

And yes, of course if I got a PB on a net uphill course I would consider that a proper PB. That is totally different in my opinion!!
