    anyone have a preference?
our club is about to buy its first trap. i'm looking at the bowman supermatch six. 300 clay, throw elevation from a flat to springing teal.
and the promatic harrier. 200 clay, throw elevation 50 degrees max. promatic is e1350. bowman is e1200.
also, are there any other makes on the market in the same price range?
    thanks.

We have 4 Acorn traps. ( 2 sporters, Osciliating DTL & ABT) They are the business. The abt and one of the sporters will be entering their third year in service and the other two just completed their first. No problems as of yet.

you could never really look past promatic, if their kept well and serviced regulary they will go forever!!@ our ground we have a dtl promatic that has thrown 000's of clays and will throw 000's more hopefully!!

Promatics are fine, just don't leave them out in the rain too much. The motor housing can fill with water. I know a few owners who remove the housing and drill a small drainage hole in it, problem solved, warranty voided;) If you buy a promatic, take a bit of time to adjust the splitter blades correctly and you should have years of trouble free use.

advice on checking anything on traps! let 1 or 2 who know a bit about the workings off a trap work on it and no1 else!! nothing worse than a gang in there all knowing the problem and nothing being fixed!! try and use the same brand of clays the whole time as cci's and claypigeoncompany differ in height fractionaly which may lead be breakages if switching from 1 to the other, so the knife may have to be adjusted to suit!

Agree 100%, every club has 1 or 2 people who know about traps and all the rest who think they do! Also, try the novel idea of reading the instruction manual;)
