    Hi,

Is the verbal->written->final written warning a legal requirement or just for trade union members?

Employment law only recommends that fair and progressive disciplinary procedures are put in place. A draft sample has been published, but it's not mandatory (although some companies/industries might have signed up to it).

Any decent procedure would allow a company to bypass some or all of the stages depending on the severity though.

Has your employer published a handbook or some sort of resource that details their procedures?
