i don't have any experience of u caller lamps but a lightforce 170 will have a lot more power than the 140.the 170 uses a 100w bulb as opposed to a 50w on the 140 and has a bigger reflector.i use the 170 for foxes with lurchers and find the range very good.

I bought a LF scope mounted lamp but due to light reflecting off the mod I abandoned the efforts at mounting it and attached it to a battery to be used as a hand held! (to be honest imo its a pain in d ass as a handheld due to the position of the switch). I recently got the blitz and find it the business when powered off the jeep! (bit severe on a battery-pack) it picks up eye's at really long distance! Good value here and a sound fella to deal with http://shop.maceoinltd.com/maceoinltd/shopping_cart.php?sort=4a .If you dont want to go for the blitz id give the Ucaller a try, @ that kind of money you cant go wrong! ;)

Last night we had a Lightforce,P7 and a Clulite (i think it was a clulite, with battery pack)

    They all had there place.
Ideally both are great as the LF170 with the red filter keep the fox in the field long enough to get a round downrange

When put on full spot the 170 clearly shows up foxes out to 300 yards or so.

I do find it much better with someone else holding the lamp, so all I have to think of is taking aim

I have the p7, light force 170 scope mounted,
& ucaller 170 hand held. The light force is
The best lamp, however the ucaller is half
The price & there is not that much between
Them. If I was you I would go for the ucaller

i have a blitz and its brilliant but its only good for a 2man team, its out of action at the moment though as my battery is wanked, new one was meant to arrive today but never came, using an m7r aswell that i scopemounted using 2 mounts and a plastic block, i'll post pics later, its and ok lamp, probably bit underpowered for foxing but for lamping rabbits it would be perfect, from all the raving reviews about the ledlensers i thought it would be better, still very handy for around the farm though

I have a LF170 scope mounted and a u caller hand held and the difference is like chalk and cheese, the u caller doesnt throw the same beam at all, i think it is well worth the extra money for the LF and if i was back again i would have left the u caller on the shelf.

+1. i've compared the two lamps and the LF170 blows the u-caller away

I believe that the light force is the best light
However The only conclusion I can come too
Is that the ucaller lamps are inconsistent
Because my one is pretty good

i got a ucaller 170 nearly a year ago and it's working perfect.
the buddy has a LF and we both go out there is very little difference.
the LF beam goes that small bit further but to put it in monterary terms its not worth the extra €35 price tag imo.

Have the Light Force 240. Yes, it is bigger than moust of the lamping stuff used arround here. But just hink for a second:the size only matters if you mount it on a rifle , isn't it? if you hand hold the lamp 2 inches radius not gone change the whole lot. But 600 yards beam would...compare to the other lights I've seen. On a clear night ( no rain or fog)with no moon, it would probably stretch up to 8-9 hundred yards easily if not more.
    1+ for LF 240
