What NFQ level is the Graduate Diploma in IT?

    Hi,
    Can anyone confirm what NFQ level the Graduate Diploma in IT is? I have searched the DCU site and have not seen it stated anywhere.

    Based on this chart on the NFQ website, a Postgradate Diploma is Level 9 and the same as a Masters Degree.

    Is a "Postgraduate Diploma" the same as a "Graduate Diploma"?

    NUI Maynooth have what sounds like a similar course yet it's called a Higher Diploma which would be level 8 on the NFQ chart.

    Hi Brian, I'm currently in the last semester of the part-time Graduate Diploma in IT(GDF) course in DCU.

    The course as far as I'm aware is level 9 in the NFQ.

    It's bit like a taught masters but without a thesis.

    Up until this academic year if you were successful in the GDF you could spend another 6 months and some more money doing a thesis and leave DCU with a Masters in IT.

    Due to the course being a level 9 course and some changes in the DCU marks and standards(this is what we were told) you can't do the masters anymore.

    Hi Brian,

    I can confirm its a Level 9 course. As mentioned above they used to offer a masters progression, but as they are technically the same level this has been discontinued.
