They work fine and are a great device but for the extra money the world platinum is better value for money. If you want to be able to move a marker to any point of the hole and also to have the Green View and be able to move the pin then it's great.
I guess it depends on whether or not you're playing many courses or 1 course many times.
The GB tour is a nice device though.

I was thinking of getting the Tour as well, but I might go for the Platinum. Quite pricey but I found one on ebay for about €350 incl delivery. The tour would be about €50 less but I think the additional features on the platinum are worth the extra.

I got one of these recently - world platinum version ($290 in the US) and used it recently.
Astonishing bit of gear. Love the fact that you can move the flag on the green and it tells you the exact distance.

Definitely speeds up play and give you a definite trusted number in your head to work from.

Played with a guy who had one at the weekend and it was spot on with our yardages. Even tested it on the tee-off marker on a par 3 and it was the same. Not sure which model he had but defo want one for Xmas...(so far away )

What was the tax on this? $290- whats that...about €210? They cost about €429 in Halpenny?

They are selling them in pro-shops also and I would say that if you were handing over 370/380 that you would get it easily enough.
They are still too expensive though.

Since I bought the bushnell Tour V2 I only use the GPS when I have a completely blind shot.
The lazer is great for getting a distance to any point at all and it finds the flag no problems. I think it's a great bit of kit.

I got the World Platinum off ebay, but it was a guy in Dublin selling it, brand new, unopened, met him and picked it up in person, cost €325. Great bit of kit and very accurate.

I have the Golf Buddy World, it's an excellent model I don't see why you should pay 30euro a year to subscribe to Sky Caddie, it's great to mark how far you hit each club, I would say hit 3 6 irons and the Golf Buddy would tell me how far I hit them taking the guess work out of how far I hit each club. Anyone who is serious about getting their handicap down should get one of these. There are cheaper Golf Buddy models out there, I would suggest one of these as all you need to know is the distance. I have used both the Sky Caddie and Golf Buddy the Golf Buddy is the one to get. They are simple to use, if you have an Iphone or smart phone you can download an app for free called swing by swing which is very good but you can't use it on competitions but you can use the Golf GPS's

Barry I have been using my Sky Caddie GPS for nearly a year now and it's a great tool and when I play with people for the first time they look and laugh and then every so often as we go around I give them a distance to the middle of the green and pause and look at me come up short and then slowly start to appreciate the device.

Its not going to make a drastic change to your game but I went from a club that had markers in meters to the center of the green to a club with yards to the front and I found it tough until they allowed GPS.

Its amazing how many times I have played with a member who is at the 100 yard marker and seen them hit a wedge that only goes about a yard onto the green and leave themselves a 20 yard putt.

If your going to be spending that much on a GPS, i would reccomend going for a Range Finder.
Unbelievably accurate with distances, and it completely takes out the guesswork as to the
whereabouts of the flag on the green.

I have a GPS and I find it very useful but mainly because I find myself trying to hit a certain portion of the green rather than right at the flag. For example, if the pin is in the back half of the green and there is maybe a hill in the middle, I find it useful knowing how far I have to get to clear the hill and how far it is to the back of the green that I have to make sure I stay short of.

But in saying that, there are times when I am hunting a flag down, especially around the 100 - 140 yardages where I would like to have a range finder.

When is someone going to release a range finder with a GPS on it??????

There is a rangefinder with built in gps, I can't remember which company has it though
