Spread trading and spread betting aren't the same thing.

What you heard was probably one of the spread betting companies offering to give a seminar on spread betting. They give you a cursory overview of the fundamentals of trading. Nothing you can't learn by doing some research yourself.

Well they might be able to teach them how not to join the other 90% of traders who end up on the scrap heap after their first year.

Plus I'm sure you can give someone a basic grounding in TA and economics (as they apply to foreign exchange) in 24 hours.

I heard about this course this morning also. I won't sit it, but I will have a look at the brochure to see what it's about. It's all good if people are learning the basics of risk management (which can certainly be taught in less than 24 hours).

I wonder do they teach that the average return to the trader is the passive return minus costs?

p.s, very little can be learned in 24hrs.
