TV/Sat Diplexer and Combi Box to suit Saorview/Freeview?

    I want to install Saorview via a Aerial and Freeview via Satellite.
    My house has only one coax cable going to each room with a TV. I would prefer not have to run another cable down to each room.
    • Will my MMDS Aerial pick up Saorview?
    • Can I use a TV/Sat Diplexer in the attic to send the TV Aerial and Satellite Signal down the same cable from the attic - one for each room?
    • Will a TRIAX HD SATELLITE AND DTT COMBI BOX accept the combined signal via one cable?
    I am hoping to do most of the work myself and am not an expert but I am sure there a few people in the same boat as myself.

    Satellite is Freesat, Freeview is UK aerial based system.

    You can't split a satellite signal. So you would need in the attic a Multiswitch if you want to feed more than 2 rooms (A quad LNB can feed 2 x PVRs). If not using a Multiswitch, then in attic you need a diplexer on EACH LNB cable and then a distribution amp from aerial feeding the diplexers.

    For more than 2 rooms a Multiswitch is better. Up to 16 outlets. Feed with Quad or Quattro LNB (4x coax, check spec) and TV aerial. I use a multiswitch that can take 4x Satellite inputs. Multiswitch system expandable 8 to 2000 rooms.

    In the rooms you can use a TV/Sat diplexer to split the signal between TV and Satbox, whether Multiswitch or Aerial Distribution amp + Diplexer per LNB cable is used.

    All combo boxes and TVs with Satellite tuners use separate inputs for TV aerial and Satellite.

    Saorsat may be a better option after May 2011, if you are installing Freesat.
    Note a Triax Combo is a FTA satellite, not Freesat receiver.

    No, different frequency range.

    MMDS = 2500-2690 MHz
    Saorview DTT = 470-790 MHz
