Failed BIOS update and keyboard issue!!

I took out my Advent 4211 today to get it a bit into shape and install Ubuntu on it as its a spare netbook i dont really use anymore as i got a new one a few months ago.

Anyways i went to update the bios as i know there have been several bios update since i got the netbook 2.5 years ago and i never bothered to update it.

I went to update today and followed instructions on techguys website, the BIOS update seemed like it started but nothing happened after 20 mins. I checked online and it seems should only take a minute to update so i had a problem.

I closed the laptop down and it seemed to log off ok and i am having no problem powering on but the issue is the keboard is still off from the when the computer switched it off for the update although the mouse has got functionality.

Obviously with out the keyboard i have been unable to get into the computer. I have a password on the netbook so i cant even get into it and use the onscreen keyboard thing as i cant enter the password.

Any help would be much appreciated on this one???

if you are doing a bios update ,its best to knock off the security bios, ie no password, try a usb keyboard ,my pc boots to bios from usb keyboards.it has legacy usb on by default in the bios.ie it needs no drivers to see usb devices.
i dont see the point of even updating pc bios unless a specific device needs the latest bios to work.
    see here http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/238352-12-bios-update-failed
    what model netbook is it?
if you had a cdrive you could boot off a linux cd,or ultimate boot cd ubcd.theres probably bootcds with onscreen keyboards ,virtual keyboards.
