Will She Call?

Hi everyone, I'm hoping for a bit of outside perspective on this one.

An Eastern European girl started working in my area recently and we have been getting on like a house on fire each time I'm talking to her at her workplace and it got to the stage where I wanted to ask her out.

I was in to her the other day and during the course of conversation she kept on asking about my girlfriend, just simple things like how was my girlfriend, do I take her out much (bear in mind she had no idea of my relationship status and there was no way she could know) peppering me with questions about it until I said I was single, to which her face lit up. Then I asked was she going to a certain event with her boyfriend (I didn't know if she had one, just trying my luck :D) to which she went red and very shyly told me she was definitely single. She then went on about how all her days consisted of was work then home alone. So I said she should let me take her out to dinner some night, to which she got very excited and said we should.

Thing is, she's 26 and I'm 21. When I told her my age she kinda laughed and said "oh your a bit young" but didn't seem too put off. Once she said that, I said what was the worst that would happen, she would have a nice night out at least. She still seemed really keen and was all smiles.

I offered her my number (didn't want to put her on the spot) which she took and said she'd call, that was Thursday and I have heard nothing since. I know that doesn't seem long but when your the one waiting it's like a nightmare. I'm starting to wonder whether the age gap has put her off completely and she took my number just to humor me, or did I read the situation completely wrong. I second guessing myself like mad here :(

How likely are you to see her again? I reckon your best bet would be just to bump into her again and then just get talking.

Ah man, it hasn't been long really. She probably doesn't want to seem desperate by getting straight onto the phone to you to arrange a date.

She may call, but the chances of her doing so are very slim. Next time you see her tell her that you forgot to ask her for her number. Don't mention to her that you were expecting her to call. Get the number and arrange the date.

You need to be more proactive here. Not wishing to generalise, but most of the eastern european girls I have met (Russion, Czech, Latvian, Polish etc... ) have been quite traditional about male/female roles, and would see the job of arranging a date as being the man's.
And, BTW, what's with "didn't want to put her on the spot"? Put her on the spot, or nothing is going to come of it.
So, man up, get her number and get her out on a date!

ive been in a few relationships with eastern european girls and from my experience they all like to be chased and not do the chasing, ive driven myself mad waiting for them to text but it never happens, they will always wait until the man makes the move and in this case where they would be calling you to go to dinner i could never see any of the eastern european girls i was with doing this

    Thanks everyone.

gerryk and know how you feel, I had actually been thinking exactly what you both have said. That she probably wants the guy to be the one making the move (basically fulfilling his role so to speak) and thats exactly what I am going to do when I'm in to her again in a week or so. As long as the bit of an age gap hasn't put her off either.

To be honest I'm really into this girl, so I'm going to do everything I can to make it happen.

Wish me luck, I'll hopefully update this in future with good news :)

OP here, had an interesting experience last night. Was in the pub with a few mates when one of them told me they saw her down the end of the bar talking to some guy. So I go over and begin talking to her and then she comes out with "I kinda lied to you the other day, I'm seeing the guy behind me" I asked her how long had she been seeing him and she says 3 months. After all the BS only a week ago telling me she was single. Another friend confirmed that she attended a wedding with this guy only a day after I asked her out, so she was definitely seeing him well before I asked her out. My mates reckon she simply got caught out and had to admit it, I can't help but think how far she would have tried to carry this charade on if I hadn't have been there to catch her out.

I'm so pissed off about the whole situation, I mean what kind of a person messes around people like this? Not just telling me she was single, taking my number and saying she'd call, but I'm also sure he wouldn't be too pleased to find out she's telling other guys she's single. I'd easily have got on with things if she just told me she was taken in the first place.

I'm almost tempted to go into her one of the days and ask her exactly what she was playing at, but then again, is it even worth it?

I wouldn't mind, but I am/was really in to this one, it's so depressing.

Lucky excape OP. Avoid the shop if you can and don't get involved if she suddenly calls saying she is single. Obviously she has no problem lying. God know what you could get involved in without knowing.

What a total bitch OP, you had a lucky escape. I pity the poor guy she is with as I have a distinct feeling she will do the dirt on him. Next time you see her, just ignore her if she says hello.

I know how you are feeling OP. I got dumped just before Xmas by a woman I was on the verge of proposing to and I have been through hell but I am only now getting through the sheer disappointment & heartbreak of it. Chin up mate, there are plenty of decent girls out there. I keep telling myself that. Never give up.

What a horrible thing for her to do... It's really cruel to mislead someone like that. You did everything right OP. Just put it down to experience.

I asked a girl for her number about a month ago, and she said: "Let me take your number". She then typed so many details into the phone that it almost guaranteed she was never going to call. I think she wanted to absolutely sure she never rang it by accident.

Try not to give it a second thought. I'm really impressed that at 21 you had the confidence to get to the stage of asking for her number/giving her yours. I'm sure you will be all hooked up in no time. Best of luck... some lucky girl is just around the corner.

    Thanks guys.

If she hadn't lied to me I would actually feel sorry for her. As she doesn't really know anyone locally and the guy she's with is known as a local no-hoper, drinks and gambles away all his cash. In fact I was told his usual method is not to really spend time with any "girlfriend" basically justs calls them when it suits (after practically a 48 hr drinking session each weekend), this coming from a girl that was burned by him in the past. She reckons he probably justs calls her up whenever he feels like sex or needs to have someone on his arm and most likely has another one on the go in another county where he works.

I know OP, it can be hard to let go of the image you had of her being a great girl and all that. But if both of them are that bad, then let make make fools out of each other and not you!
