I presume that's because the broadband uses a usb dongle to access the network. The Ipad + other tablets don't have usb ports or drivers for it. Which equals a problem.

An iPad has no USB ports, and the Galaxy Tab probably has no driver support for USB modems. Hence, it won't work. If you have a Wifi modem, then the tabs will be able to connect through their wireless interface.

Get a WiFi Adaptor /Router like Dovado for your USB Internet stick.

I have same situation with my Archos 605. it can recognise USB flash drive, SD card adaptor or USB HDD. Not a dongle.

Works fine on WiFi. I've used it via 3G and 4G WiIFi points. I converted a Linksys WRT54g3G with open WRT to use NiMH cells glued inside.

I'm on the student broadband tariff as well and upgraded my wireless dongle to the Hotshot today.
If you're due an upgrade you should do this as it doesn't need to be physically connected to whatever you are trying to access the web on e.g. I can now go online with my iPod Touch va the Hotshot.
