New belt for old turntable

I bought an old record player recently, which needs a new belt and am having trouble finding anywhere that stocks them any more. Could also use a new stylus but the belt is my priority. The Stereo is a Philips 974 Home Stereo and I have no experience. I'm not sure if i would be ok with a universal belt or if it needs a specific belt. When i brought it to a shop to find a replacement the guy said he'd never seen one so narrow (more like an elastic band tbh) so either it takes a weird belt or the belt was done and someone stuck in an elastic band. Any help most appreciated!

    22AH974.

You may be able to locate one on line. There are companies that still supply belts and styli.
    There is no universal belt.
Anyway, belts can vary in width. I have ones that are about 4mm to 7mm wide. Take a look at the motor spindle. It should have a (brass) fitting that the belt goes onto. The groove or notch will give you an idea of the width. The length is more awkward. When fitted, it shouldn't be too tight. Mine vary from approx 460mm to over 600mm in diameter.

Cheers, found a seller on ebay. This was clearly a mainland europe model! Wont make it easy to find parts in general but worth it for the improvement on the Bush disgrace i was using before!
