    Hello

It says on my tickets for the England game to enter at the purple ticket entrance at the junction of Herbert Road and lansdowne road

My question is lads , do I have to walk up Serpentine Avenue then up Herbert road to my entrance or can I walk up Shelbourne Road and then walk up Lansdowne Road to my entrance , just that on my map this is only for green ticket holders

Walking around Serpentine and Herbert Roads is a long way around

    Thanks in advance

The Purple Entrances are opposite the Elverys Sports/Training pitch so you would be able to get there from Lansdowne Road.

Its only really the Red Route that you have to follow the exact directions on the ticket to avoid a LONG walk!

So forgive me , if Im coming drinking from Baggot street area , I can head down pembroke road , then lansdowne road ( even though this says for green tickets ) walk past the green ticket entrance and continue up lansdowne road and turn left at the herbert road junction ? to then enter the purple ticket entrance ?

I have posted a link of the map below , so you get the idea . Im from the UK , Know Dublin pretty well though

They are very strict on the entrances, if you don't come from the way it says on the ticket you likely will be told to go all the way back around. I was on the halfway line for All Blacks game and the people 3-4 seats to my left had come in the same way I tried to come by only to be sent back all the way around the canal and back in the other side even though there was absolutely no obstruction to me getting to the stairs for my section from the way I had come. I missed the Haka and the anthems as a result and was seriously pissed off. There wasn't even a queue when I arrived, the guys checking tickets were just on a power trip or else had been threatened not to allow anyone else through. Amazingly enough, after the match we were allowed to join the throngs exiting that way.

Its a total pain to be turned back when you can see the gate you want to go to.

I arrived 30mins before kick off for the french game and despite there being no crowd problem we were made to walk all the way around the stadium,we just made the anthems.

i asked a guard and a steward why this was the case and got a basic "thats the why" and they couldnt see the logic behind it.

A bit of common sense would go a long way.

I'm almost certain that the route you have proposed will be blocked off, at the last game we had to go via the suggested route on the ticket to get to the purple section, gardaí were stopping people taking alternative routes. If it was me I'd just go the way it says on the ticket, it's not worth missing the start of the match for.

Doubt "the guy on the phone said i could" will be accepted at the gate though.

Thats correct, down past The green stiles. On that map where you see the wheelchair/parking sign is the Elverys Sports shop.

Its is only the Red Route that can be a pain to get to. There will be no barriers etc preventing you from getting to the purple stiles from Lansdowne Road. I work there so can guarantee it. Just dont wait for the DART barriers to go up as they wont.. Use the underpass!

I'm fairly sure you won't be allowed enter via Lansdowne Road. I sit in the East Stand for the football internationals and you can't come down Lansdowne Road for those.

You definitely won't be allowed to go up Lansdowne Road from Shelbourne Road. This is due to the underpass at that corner of the ground being designed for a certain amount of people, both before and after games.

    It's Herbert Road for you.
