as above had my car on lots of sites for weeks with no joy. was on done deal 2 days and sold. seems to be most popular at the moment imo. €3 per add.:D

And when you put the ad on donedeal remember it's Qashqai, not Qashkai.
The correct spelling will often help potential buyers to find your ad.:D:D:D

yep! il echoe the above! tryed autotrader, buy and sell, etc for ages. put it donedeal and it was gone within two weeks.
Donedeal seems to be the business at the moment!

Take good pictures of it (Not just the outside or with a camera phone)

Pics of service book spare keys etc. (www.autoquake.co.uk know how to take pictures of cars - up to 44 for some)

Put "no texts or swaps or private numbers" in the advert. Otherwise you will get hounded from every muppet in the land.

It will be 3 quid well spent.

dont agree with this, of all the cars ive sold privately over the last few years, 90% of them started with a simple text from the buyer.

    +1 agree with this.
i also put in pics of engine bay and a little trick from the girls buyer side of things, a good picture of the boot while empty.

Donedeal (3 quid) is probably the best. Sold my last two cars off donedeal and anyone who came to see it saw it on donedeal. One chap who came to see it said "I never look at carzone" and he was buying this as his 3rd car.

Carzone(30 odd I think) is a lot more expensive and all I got was a load of scam emails.

Cbg (was initially free), never did anything for me.

Gumtree (Free), I got a lot of hits but nothing materialised.

Carsireland (Free), Just threw it on there so I covered everywhere!

Cbg (was initially free), never did anything for me.

Had a car on cbg once before. Initially free and the only person to ring me was a cbg sales person, wanting to sell me the upgraded advert.

I wasnt interested and he got stroppy - deleted my advert.

Wouldn't agree with this at all. 4 people viewed my car. Out of them. 3 started with a text. Many buyers will send a text Is the car still available and then will call if it is. Saves a lot of time then having to ring for every advert to find out car is sold.

+1 on CBG, I put up a free ad. soon after the market collapsed just to see if I could do an upgrade as some big repo cars were going for a song in auctions. Got a call from a seriously good saleslady in CBG, she told me the car market was holding up well ('what recession?') and did almost a very good job at upselling me to a paid ad. but I basically told her she was talking BS at which stage she cut me off and went off to tell someone else a pack of lies to earn some commission.

    Er

Okay Seem to be in the minority with regards the texts.

Just from my experience, if some one was serious about something, they rang.

Thank you all for contributions ,its now on Donedeal = Hoping for the best
BTW - I noticed the incorrect spelling after I posted - so thats sorted, again many thanks

OP I'd be inclined to elaborate a bit on the contents of your ad - a 2-liner, ending with "etc" is not going to differentiate it from any other car.

    - Is the full service history with Nissan? If yes, say it.
    - Is there low road tax? If yes, state what it is.
    - What condition are the tyres in? If there's a lot of tread, give a measurement.
    - How many airbags?
    - Is there Isofix on the back seats?
    - Why not mention the multi-function steering wheel?
    - Is there bluetooth on the stereo? If yes state it.
    - Has it been owned by a non-smoker?
    - Has it air-con? Climate Control? Single-zone or dual-zone?
    - Has it been occupied by kids or are the back seats almost unused?
    - Also I'd suggest using bullet points. As you can see from the above, its clearer.

many thanks DILBERT75 -AD changed as advised
Hope I get some response now ,it was on CBG,but no calls
This is totally genuine car and I will listen to all offers -should I include that in ad as well ?

Much better - if it has a good EuroNCAP rating, no harm to mention that too. You're selling to families mainly so these are the kind of things that interest family car drivers. Good luck with the sale.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 82 ✭✭alanclarke1975

+1 Good Luck with the sale.

Let us know how you get on. How usefull or how useless you found Donedeal.

I am sure there are other people here who would like to see the process from start to finish.

So far no callers ,I thought the Qashqai was a very resaleable & sought after car ,especially one in perfect nick -will keep u posted if any further developments:

Do you have a link to the advert so that we can give you more pointers?

Obviously not priced correctly. Your big enemy is the fact that it has a petrol engine. People want diesel, even though there's bog all in the difference between fuel cost, road tax, etc. If you price it right, it will sell. Question is - are you willing to let it go for a price that someone will pay?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 230 ✭✭lob020

Yea maybe ,its the price although I have priced it cheaper by about 500 than any other similar Qashqai,it has lower mileage than any other advertised and high spec as well

    anyway heres the link
    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1957202

The MPG is between 40 -42 & the diesel version is around 52 and sluggish at that -
still maybe its worth considering reducing de price again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,724 ✭✭✭Dilbert75

Maybe they're not getting any callers either? You want to price it around what they're selling at - determining what that is is the hard bit...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 230 ✭✭lob020

ok - if anybody out there has bought a similar car ,please let me know what price was paid ,
I`m not goin to sell for a ridiculous price, but will listen to any offers

I have a car advertisied on Done Deal, Buy and sell and carzone for the last 2 weeks and not even one call. I don't think 12,000 for 2007 1.9 dsl passat is asking to much, there just doesn't seam to be any buyers.

Yours is way overpriced, that is why nobody has registered an interest. Look at this one:
    http://www.driving.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=201109201490594

The asking price is €2500 cheaper than yours. Now a cash buyer (who you are looking to sell to) will probably negotiate a discount off that asking price and they will come away with a warranty too. Why would someone consider yours at €2500 more and with no warranty?

What people think their cars are worth are alot less than what the car is actually worth. There are a good few 07 Passat TDis with average mileage being offered at around €10k.

    Eg: http://www.driving.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=201108201369147

Again this comes with a warranty from a garage. Cars especially diesel ones are selling, I put my car up on donedeal on a Monday, had two calls by Wednesday and it was bought by the first person who came to view it. Price has to be realistic and advert has to be presented right.

11995 is a realistic price, full service history with main dealer, 62,000 miles, only problem is that there is 270 similar Passats for sale on carzone and not enough demand

Lol. The link to the one in my last post proves that 11950 is not a realistic asking price. Remember a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, not what the seller thinks it's worth.

    remember it's Qashqai, not Qashkai.

I'd put both spellings in different places in the ad, gets hits from people who cant spell properly aswell as those who can!

not relevant in your case, but useful putting tdi and turbo diesel in the same ad. Again catches people looking for the same thing with different search terms.

And if its taxed via the old system, and fits into a lower band, make sure to mention that. i.e. 1595cc is cheaper to tax than 1601cc though both would be advertised as 1.6l only a small difference, but might sway someone choosing between your car and someone elses

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 230 ✭✭lob020

again thanks for replies ,I have just reduced the price
Point to remember when doing comparsons ;low mileage ,one owner,High spec
The Qashqai SVE has over 2 thousand worth of extras as well :(

A high spec, 8 year old automatic car running on petrol with a 2.2 litre engine is about the hardest car you can sell today. Most people would just rather buy a new diesel and pay €150 tax, rather than fork out over €800 every year.
