    http://www.deadline.com/2011/03/nicholas-hoult-to-star-in-summits-warm-bodies/

Nicholas Hoult, who already bagged the title role in Jack the Giant Killer, has landed the lead in Warm Bodies, the Summit Entertainment adaptation of the Isaac Marion novel. The book will be published by Atria, and the film will be directed by Jonathan Levine, who wrote the script. Like the Jack role, this was one of the most coveted parts for young actors.

Hoult will play an existentially tormented zombie who begins an unlikely friendship with the girlfriend of one his victims, and it starts a chain reaction that transforms him and perhaps will do the same for his fellow zombies and maybe the whole lifeless world. Summit production president Erik Feig and veep Gillian Bohrer are overseeing.

Shooting starts late summer, after Hoult completes Jack the Giant Killer for director Bryan Singer at New Line. Hoult is repped by UTA and UK-based Independent. The British actor, who has grown from the About A Boy hanf-pint into a 6'3" leading man. Hoult starred in the original UK series Skins, and starred with Colin Firth in the Tom Ford-directed A Single Man.

Hoult will next be seen playing the role of Beast in X-Men: First Class coming out in June through 20th Century Fox. Hoult will also star in Fury Road, the George Miller-directed prequel to the Mad Max films. That will film next year, with Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron also starring.

That actually looks quite decent. Apart from Dave Franco, who I can't stand

This book was really quite surprisingly good and brings an interesting take on the whole Zombie genre that wasn't really done before. I also wouldn't call it "Twilight with zombies", because that's most certainly doing it a disservice.

Wait, I thought there already were zombies in Twilight and that explained the lifeless acting.

    The CGI skeletons look rubbish!

Other than that looks like an interesting approach to the genre.

That looks kinda fun, with a decent sense of humour & a suitably dark streak. I think the title of this thread should be changed, because it's completely mis-representative & sensationalist by the looks of things.

It actually reminds me of 'Fido', a equally dark comedy set in a post-zombie world, also featuring a zombie rediscovering his humanity.

Of course all that said, there's absolutely no need for me to see the damn film because the trailer details nearly ever beat of the plot. One to keep an eye on for sure.

Yeah, I found that too. I've read the book and it's among my favourite Zombie-related ones and it's strange just how much they've given away! The book had a lot of dark comedy in it.

The book was incredible. I found it initially online as just a seed story, called "I am a Zombie, filled with Love". Then I found out the book actually existed, and it is a real treat to read. Very interesting take on zombies in general.

The trailer, however, makes me sad. Unless the film is completely different (both visually and thematically) from the trailer (which its unlikely to be), it looks like they've missed the mark completely.

For anyone thinking of seeing the film, do read the book at least first, if not instead of altogether. Its a cracker.

Trailers are usually notorious for describing the movie wrong. The one example I usually use is how the movie Funny People was marketed as a laugh-a-minute comedy, when in reality it was a rather touching drama.

This is the outcome I have my fingers crossed for, but I'm not confident

How is this anything like Twilight? Trailer looks fun but that CGI is absolutley shocking.

Put it this way, the book was NOTHING like Twilight. Whether the film is or not is another matter entirely.

Jaysus OP, no need to kill the film by labelling it "twilight with zombies". How about subtitling it Zombie Romance by 50/50 Director?

Can we actually get a mod to change the title of this thread?
Given the promotion is picking up on this, it's only fair the movie isn't so glibly dismissed before it even hit the cinemas.

THe twilight comparison made me steer clear, only watched the trailer now and it looks like a lot of fun I have to say. Didn't realise its the same director as 50/50 either.

The story makes no sense in terms of zombie lore but it looks funny at least! I'd recommend the film Fido with Billy Connelly(seriosly!) as a zombie for another good 2zombie's re-integrate into society" type story, though in a more subtle way than this it seems.

Yup, mentioned it myself in the last page, it's quite good. From what I remember of it, it made me think of the Fallout series of games, with a weird sense of sci-fi macabre in a warped version of 50s Americana. Certainly a much darker streak than this film (at least, going by the trailers anyway)

Okay heres the first 4 minutes

Its not a spoiler but does give a good impression of what this movie is about, honestly looking forward to it after watching this. especially after the awful world war z trailers this seems like a zombie flick i could really enjoy yet is bizarrely different.
Also yes Nicholas Holts yank accent is still a bit jarring to hear

Hmm, my impressions of this actually increased a little after watching the video; it's not a laugh-riot, but there's a nice snarky element to it all. Maybe the later acts show a downward spiral, but on the basis of what I've seen so far I'll probably check it out.

Excellent, they've kept the tone from the book for sure.

it make no sense, A zombie cant love its has no soul, plus its reanimated corpse, its not resident evil where the human turned into zombie a by virus. beside that zombie has no emotions or feels for love.

Warm Bodies was released in America to generally favourable reviews, coming out with a respectable 77% on rottentomatoes and 7.7/10 on IMDB. Very excited about seeing it now.

Actually went to see this the other night. Its nothing like twilight.

Despite some gaping plot holes and ropey CGI it is a really good (and charming) film. Very funny in places too.

Was gonna go see this tonight.. and realised it's not being shown in my local cinema.

Did it get a limited release or something?

God forbid I want to actually support my local cinema and movie industry... for fecks sake!

I squeezed this in today between JDIFF screenings. I haven't seen any of the Twilight films, so I can't compare. It's undeniably tweenish, but I really enjoyed it. Smartly written and directed and very funny. Great soundtrack too. I'd recommend it, though it probably won't appeal to die hard zombie fans.

It might be glaringly obvious but I assume that his name is
Romeo, with her name being Julie(tte) and them even having a balcony scene

Saw this on Valentines evening, much much much better than I expected which was a silly romcom with some zombie slapstick moments, definitly exceeded that! Great different type of storyline, funny in parts but not OTT imho and more real and from a different perspective than other zombie movies Ive seen, loved it! :)

    went to see this today.

    its not the best.

dont get me wrong its not bad. its just left me kinda conflicted. i guess the best way i can describe it is "quirky". IMO its one you'd be better off seeing as a DVD with a few beers with your other half.

i WILL say hoult is fantastic in this. it really is remarkable what he manages to impart with his expressions alone and alot of what makes this film feel good is just how well he plays R . its undeniably the weirdest concept for a film ive seen in ages too . i doubt your gonna see something like it again for a good while.

it just comes close to not working in places.

that said it is very charming. the sound track is immensely enjoyable
got a great laugh out of the "pretty woman" scene :D
though as a 80s kid its weird to consider guns n roses "classic" . man i must be getting old. plus to its credit it dosnt hold back in places
R basically learning all he knows about julie and getting into the human compound from eating her exes brains for instance.
man THAT was some ballsy stuff.

and its stuff like that which raises it in my esteem.

i give it an offbeat 5.5 out of 10.

ya wont rave about it but you will be glad ya seen it.

I saw this on Saturday and I have to say I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was very refreshing - Holt was wonderful as "R", with some rather sweet moments and excellent self-depreciating monologues - particularly loved the whole "try not to be creepy" line.

The "Pretty Woman" part was wonderfully funny and Teresa Palmer as Julie was quite brilliant.

Having read the book though, they did leave out a lot -
Julie's boyfriend plays a much bigger role in the book, especially after he's dead. He essentially lives in R's head and communicates with him.

With regards to the end -
I am of the opinion that R's ultimate transformation to being human was handled much better in the book, but it was a great effect to see the heart beat of the assembled zombies

All 'n' all, it's refreshing to see another RomZomCom (Romantic Zombie Comedy), and it handled so much better than Twilight, of which people compared it a lot.

Hugely disappointed, but not insulted. I had really hoped for it to be a bit closer to the tone of the book. But it wasn't utter muck at least.
