    Hi All,
Has anyone bought a car or has had any dealings with 'Diamond Trade Sales' on the Ashbourne Road (N2)? I'm shopping around for a car and have seen a nice looking one there (through Carzone.ie) but am a little unsure how trustworthy the dealer is.
    Cheers.

I didn't find anything after a quick google.
Do you have any reason to think they're not trustworthy?

    Thanks biko.
It's just a slightly funny setup, tucked away on the back of an industrial estate behind some greenhouses. I also remember some of the garages on the N2 being featured on Prime Time some years ago...

I feel the same way with RIGHT PRICE CARS, but opinions are not allowed...

I do have an open mind about it, otherwise I would just have walked away and not have posted here at all. But you don't buy cars for small change and before considering spending a few years' savings on a motor I was looking for some reassurance through the broad number of people contributing to boards.ie. In terms of the tag 'Dodgy' I was not making any accusations, as should be evident from my initial post. I was merely expressing my concerns in a heading that would also attract some interest and make people read it...

Why don't you save yourself the grief and buy privately?

Probably for the same reason that I had to post about this in the first place. I'm not very experienced in relation to buying and selling cars and thus a bit worried about buying a car directly of a private owner without any comeback etc.
But on another matter, what has reassured me a little in relation to my original post is that no one so far appears to have heard anything negative about the dealer.

If you know more about people than you do about cars then you're safer buying privately.

What is it about this place, you can`t express or have an opinion here without people getting into a hissy fit, or jumping down your throat.
Its like you expect us to walk blindly into places that we`re unsure of and get ripped off.
What ever happened to customers voice/experiences and such....

I feel that my post and concerns are the same as your man`s, but your not allowed to talk about it, I don`t know....

Theres a difference between expressing an opinion and saying something about a garage which puts them in a bad light and which may lead to them closing without factual evidence.Lewis your in every thread lately giving out since your thread on naas Dealers thats the way it is here

Like everyone else here I'm prepared to hear someone's story about genuinely dodgy dealers and we're all grateful to hear about these people as it means that we can avoid them and not make the same mistake.

However...... there is also the issue of fair play and the rights that everyone has to their reputation, that's the issue I have with the OP starting a thread with 'dodgy dealers' in the thread title and then supposedly innocently asking about a named dealer in North Dublin.

What he should have done is what everyone else does which is to title the thread 'Does anyone have any experience of dealing with xxxx' - at least that kicks the thread off on a neutral footing, then people can throw rose petals or brickbats depending on their experiences.

The thread title is well out of order, imo.

Why don't you edit it to something more appropriate? Click Edit then Go Advanced if you want to do so.

    +1

Title implies that the dealer is "dodgy" but the OP doesn't appear to have any knowledge of the dealer, much less any evidence of malpractice. The dealer becomes "guilty until proven innocent", should be the other way around.

If I were that dealer I'd be very very annoyed by this.

Give the guy a chance !

When the day comes when your unsure about some where, what do you do, talk to some one about it, but its taken as an attack in this place.
Far from an opinion man, more like a concern.
I doubt him voicing his concerns will shut the place down.
I think Mcdonalds is a **** hole, bad in so many ways, but that`s just my opinion, are you going to slate me for saying that?
Is it going to close the place down?

Rights, lol ironic....If they`ve got a good reputation then they`ve nothing to worry about.

But is`nt that what we`re doing? This is only a chat about it, not legal proceedings.

Dodgy/unsure/I don`t know, we all have different ways of saying things, once you read the post does`nt that explain better?

Ah it does`nt matter, to each his own, I give up......

I don't think anyone would have a problem with you saying that you think McDonalds is crap, but if you were to start a thread titled "Food poisoning at McDonalds" for example, with the first post asking "Has anyone gotten food poisoning at McDonalds?" then I'd have a problem with that. Big difference.

Anyway, I'm dropping this before I get accused of back seat modding.

You`ll always come across some one who has a problem with anything you say, I know people who have gotten sick from McDonalds, everyone knows there food is crap, far from healthy and there one of the biggest company`s that has litter all over the place.
Its might has well be a type of poisoning, just long term.

I`ve never had so much fun on here in a long time....

it is amusing that you have reservations about buying from these guys because of where they are located.
take a quick trip up to airside where you have glorious showrooms and state of the art facilities........but how much of your hard earned cash goes towards paying for the lovely showroom that in some instances cost millions to build.....I would prefer the bulk of my investment to be paying for the car and a "dodgy" portacabin an not the opposite where a chunk of change goes to pat the builder and a small amount of my investment goes towards the car....you will i am quite sure notice a slight difference in the pricing structure between these two operations...
