they have computer courses in word and excel  that require laptops :confused:

It'll get the job done. if he plans on doing any sneaky gaming, it wont. Intel GMA graphics are not made for 3D applications.

well he has no pc at home. Un-employed so trying to get a bit up to-date in the hope pf getting a job. never worked on compters so, he was thinking was thinking about a laptop.

would only be used for microsoft office, internet , No gaming...

I'd say it's an excellent choice, and go with it. Toshiba have a really good reputation, reliability wise. Might be worth upgrading the ram to 4Gb, though that is something you could do after a few months if you find it's running a bit slow.

It is a lovely laptop and Toshiba do have a good reputation, but if he's not averse to the idea of buying a used laptop, there is some great bargains to be had over in Adverts. I bought a laptop there not that long ago, and it was immaculate and running like it is brand new.

Some of the advertisers don't mind you putting in bid lower then they're asking..

That is a very good price though,

    Especially if you look around.
    It's on littlewoods.ie for €519

A lesser spec version is on click.ie with half the size HD and only 1GB ram for €399

But Dabs.ie seems to have bettered it..

They're offering it with 3GB of memory and it's only €421 - HERE

They also have a Lovely Samsung for €405 with 500GB HD and 3GB RAM - HERE - Works out at €419 including delivery

and HERE is other ones on DABS.ie, who seem to have the best offers at this moment in time.

Although i would be very happy to see better..
