Using iPad 3G in the US?

    Hi,
    I have an iPad with 3G which has not yet being activated in Ireland as I have only used wi fi. I am going to the states for 2 weeks and will need to activate the 3G with a carrier there. However, if I do this then will I be able to use a vodafone or 3 payg data roaming card when I return?
    My iPad was originally bought in the US.

    No activation needed, you just stick in the SIM of your choice as and when you want.
