do some hip stretches after your runs. You should be able to find some good stretches to do online

I would say try a cross-trainer or rowing machine, or exercises that build the gluteal muscles. That way it should strengthen your core, and distribute any pressure onto other muscles. It might also be just a sign of your muscles building and the pain fades over time.

I would suggest you go for an assessment with a specialist. If you are only running 3mins, then I would be surprised if the pain you are experiencing is running related.

What type of footwear are you in?

I am considering pulling out of the pairs marathon because of a hip injury. One side hurts when I run, usually over 10 miles. I went to a chiropractor on Friday and he told me it is unwise to do the marathon because of the risk of long term injury.

    Op,

Are you doing the couch to 5k? If not, you should consider it. Build yourself up slowly. My advice would be to take a week to 10 days off and go swimming instead. Start from where you left off next week. It's your body adjusting away from your former potatoe lifestyle ;)

I had the same problem last year and went to a physio. She gave me some exercises and told me to come back. I didn't and reckon the swimming really helped. She gave me peace of mind so it was worth it but expensive at €60

Make sure you have proper runners and go easy to start off with. Don't give up!

If the problem doesn't go away then see a physio.

How excited am I this morning, I didn't give up and no pains in my hips today. Yesterday I exercised for about 50 minutes, walked for a song, jogged for a song, so i jogged for 6 songs and no pains got such a buzz from it. Hopefully I'll build on this and keep it up. I did loads of stretches after and had a shower and put cold water all over my legs dunno if this helped, feel great today only thing is which is very random is my ribs are a bit sore nothing major but they are tender to the touch!!

Good stuff. You should walk for 5 minutes when you are finished and stretch.
