Drive shaft bearing?

I have a 'thunk' noise from under the car when I go from drive to reverse or vice versa (but not if I go D-N-D or R-N-R). So I guess one of my drive shaft bearings is gone?

sometimes worn bushings, suspension or diff mounts, prop couplings can cause clunks too.

Full marks to you for a good memory!

No, didn't get the vibration (cyclical thrumming over 60mph) sorted, haven't had a chance to go after it yet. This thunk when changing direction may point more strongly to the u joint (?) being shot.

I guess I'm going to have to have a look under the car when someone shifts so I can see what's going on (carefully).
