    Hi,

I would love to go snowboarding later in the year (or Feb next year) and am trying to get a rough idea in my head as to how much it would cost a couple for a week snowboarding / skiing in Salzberg or one of the other relatively cheap resorts. I have the figure in my head of around €190 for passes but what would the costs of equipment etc be?

Thanks for any help you have.

    Depending on resort

80-145 for ski hire and boots etc the high end figure is for resorts like St Anton and Lech most are about 100 average

You can eat on the mountain for about 10 euro a day PP or you can jut raid the breakfast buffet in the hotel.

Salzburg itself is not a resort, although there are many resorts very close to it.

I would say it will cost you between 190 and 240 for a weeks ski pass.
Ski hire as Fattes said above.

You can fly to Salzburg cheap with Ryanair from dublin. This is only a winter route, so if your going next year you will have to wait till much later in the year before the flights are available on the Ryanair website.

I would look at flights on the Wed morning or the Friday morning as they will be cheaper coming back on the Tue or Wed. We got flights to Geneva and Zurich for €150 return with bags. Booked just before Christmas I might add

Google Intersport for costs for austria.

Regarding flights, look at flying to Munich and train from there.
As example, a return train fare from Munich airport to Jenbach and on the local train to Mayrhoffen costs approx € 80. I usually get return flights to Munich with Aer Lingus for around € 100 or so.

Usually between €350-€500 depending where you go. That will include flights, insurance, accomodation, equipment, lift pass, basically everything except spending money for food, alcohol, clothes or other crap. €350 is rock bottom, my holidays to France, Andorra, Italy cost an everage of €450 I think. Now in saying that we didn't stay in a fancy hotel, just apartments.

I seriously doubt €10 will cover you in food costs for the day unless your hotel includes breakfast lunch and dinner. That or you're a very shoddy eater. Be realistic, depending whether you eat in the hotel or go out, 5-10 for breakfast, 10 for lunch, 10-20 for dinner. Some resorts have dirt cheap prices but don't expect to find everywhere to be like that. Like I said, be realistic, 25-50 a day for food. €50 is more than plenty, I doubt you'll spend more but some do. Better safe than sorry. Ofcourse if you have a kitchen it's even cheaper since you can cook your own food like we did at times.

Equipment usually costs €50-150, usually on the cheaper side if you book through the right crowd. Shop around and you should get bargains for €80 or even cheaper etc.

Lift pass can range, my experience was as far as I remember between 70 and 200. This really does depend where you go. Some resorts havea great rep and as a result can be up to €200 and more for a week, others can be €90. If you're booking through a company then it's cheaper again.

Flights you know yourself shop around.

If you're getting a company to organise everything make sure they give a COMPLETE breakdown of all the costs. That includes everything I just mentioned, also airport transfers, extra hotel charges blah blah. Don't let them rob you. Hope this helps.

€ 350 - 500 seems exceptionally good value ! Is this for a week or shorter ? And is it package or diy ?

Recommend always getting your own equipment, the rental stuff is usually low standard. There are a few places in ireland that do good snowboarding gear.
Also get a big boarding bag. Put all your clothes and gear in the one. That way you only pay for that bag.And fill your carry on to the max. Saves me 70 euros every time.
Good palces to check out.I bought some boots in great outdoors, burtons, very good. Bought a very cool board off powdermonkey. And have had mates who got stuff off Irishsnowboard. Not sure if he is still going. Snowboard all the way.

    Great outdoors( bit Pricey)
    www.powdermonkey.ie (good gear and price)
    Irishsnowboard( good gear and price)

It was through a company, forget who it was now. We stayed in Apartments everytime. 1 of the places are lift passes were €90 and another place our rental was €75 or something.. so like I said shop around and find the best prices.
