Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 Touchpad Problems

    Hi everyone,

    Hope somebody can help me.
I have a Toshiba Satellite pro L40 and the touchpad is very sensitive and erratic.
If i place my finger on it and hold it there, the cursor will jump up and down like a kid bouncing really fast on a trampoline. (Best way to describe it)
If i move it around it clicks or opens nearly everything it passes.

I have changed the sensitivity and unticked "Tap to Click".
I have replaced the whole Palmrest with touchpad with a used one i bought on ebay. Exact same problem.
I have booted into ubuntu using a live CD and the same thing is happening there.
I have downloaded the newest synaptics driver with scrybe, and no change.

Anyone have any idea what is causing this? Where the problem is? I have a USB mouse in at the minute, but would prefer to fix this.
Is it a known issue with Toshiba? Is it possible that the used palmrest and touchpad coincidentally had the same problem (Is it worth sending back for another one?)
Or is there a problem with the connections that i can fix? If so, how?

Sorry for all the questions but i am going insane with this. The only thing i haven't tried, is installing older drivers, because i can't find any older then 9.1.23.11. But seeing as it happens in ubuntu too, i'm assuming it's hardware.

    Anyone have this problem before?
