Food and public transport is quite cheap, but other goods are around the same price as here, or slightly higher (clothes, etc.).

Hotel wise, it really depends on where you're staying, and whether you go to an all-inclusive spa resort or just for a regular hotel vacation.

It's a beautiful country though! Valetta is fantastic. It gets very ot during the summer, up in the forties at the height of summer, and it can be uncomfortable, particularly on the buses.

So what your estimate for spending money, for a week?

A week is plenty in Malta, although you'll need to visit Gozo, and do a couple of other trips whilst there. You're not going to take any organised tours, I suppose.

I think you're being overly optimistic hoping for €300 to get you by. You just might get away with €600, but you'll be watching your pennies all the time. This is assuming you like to eat out the odd time, etc.

Heading there for a the first week of Easter (Friday to Friday) We got the hotel and flights for 395 each. Ryanair from Dublin, 7 nights B and B in the Dolmen resort (was recommended to us by a Maltese resident).
Looking forward to it. Hopefully wont spend to much.

Yea i suppose 300 is a bit cheap of me. Id like to still stay around the 600 mark though. All flights and accomodation is booked, so its just food and booze. I dont dink that much, so hopefully can get a few nice boat trips n too.

Has anybody had any experience using there ATMs? I hate the idea of taking out cash before i go and i would hope to just use ATM machines over there. Anybody know if there are many around?

There are ATMs everywhere and they work with the current laser/maestro card. I had no problems there.

Yeah.. just to confirm what the earlier poster said, ATMs were everywhere and I didn't have any problems withdrawing cash with my Laser (BoI) card.
