Hi, just wondering, if you fail a module due to your work not being marked because of attendance what happens then?? Can you go into 3rd year but include that module along with 3rd year modules..?? Also what happens with the grant??

Nope, even if you only failed due to not going to enough classes you have to sit the repeat exam in August. You can't take modules from 2nd year in to 3rd year.

    Dunno about the grant though.

If it is a continuous assessment module you may not be able to sit an exam,at the start of the year you were given a blue sheet with all the module codes on it stating which ones could be repeated in August and which could not be,check for your module code on that, also go to the Academic Advisory Office in the Arts Building on Monday morning, they can give you a breakdown of you options.

If you just have to repeat it in the summer there's no problem with the grant. However, if you end up having to repeat the entire year you probably won't get it next year. You'd get it again in 3rd year though assuming you're still eligible.

I have a friend who ended up in that situation but the history dept let him just do 2 electives this sem to make up for the one he failed last sem. otherwise he was going to have to repeat the year!

This happened me last year. I had bad attendance for Dr.Prunty's lectures. I received a letter from the department about it, as i assume you have. So i made an appointment with the then head of department, which was Prof Colm Lenon. I pleaded my case to him. He said he would bring it to the dept board and see. Everything went ok in the end and i made it into 3rd year. For me it was because i came out, the dept deemed this serious enough to justify missing lectures. I don't know your case but i do know Prof Lyons the head of the dept is really understanding. Go to her and plead your cae, cry if you have to. Also try contacting your class reps, thats what they're there for. If you have been having a hard time or need some help the counselling service provides dvice and letters to students in neeed.

Don't worry about it! You'll be grand. Just get the head down for the rest of the year. Good Luck!!:rolleyes:

you sure? i only got the blue sheet the end of the year last with the results.
