    Right, I just thought it a bit suspicious that the note was in the middle of the footpath folded in ½. Got the impression I was being filmed or something?

    Technically it's not your property, no more than unlocked car with the keys in the ignition is yours if you take it. On a realistic level just keep the money. Unless you were filmed or something nothing will happen. The alternative would be dropping the note into a garda station where it would just as easily disappear since nobody is going to go chasing after a lost 20 euro note.
