Stylish new lap-top for the clueless!

Hi looking for a new laptop, but am a bit clueless when it comes to computers.

- Budget is up to €800

- Will be used mainly to work from home (i.e. e-mailing, word processing) and to write (hopefully). Would also like some capacity to play music, maybe films

- Would like it to be stylish and look well

- Will be used mainly at home so portability not a huge issue - may be used as well when traveling on business

Apple looks well but I have never used one before. As my work system uses windows, I probably would be better not getting one, particularly as I'm not very technologically minded, is that right? I see dell studio have some funky covers on their website which I like, but is it a good laptop for the price? If so, which model would you recommend? Any other laptops which I should consider?

Got myself a Samsung R580 last week, and was surprised at how nice it looks. Photos don't do it justice



If portability isn't an issue, it might be better to get the larger screened version

Well impressed with the performance so far. Though I was upgrading from a 1.66Ghz celeron processor, so it's no surprise that the I3 is a lot quicker:)

I'd suggest Apple only because it's great when you know nothing about computers and want to keep it that way.

MASTER...of the bra

You have a big budget but small requirements, get something with an i3 processor, 3 preferably 4GB of RAM, HDMI port (for connecting to HD Tvs), 3 USB ports (handy if using a mouse and external harddrive) and you'll have a good one for your needs and won't be outta date in 2 years, you'll be paying a big premium for an Apple.

Good Acer
Better Toshiba (recommended here alot) has a good dedicated graphics card, good for High Def movie playback.

Better Argos one. (Than the argos one above that is)

If looks are that important to you, get the samsung above. I went for spec.
Windows isin't hard to use. Who said that? Just spend a few hours setting it up right when you turn it on.
