    Hi,

Title explains it all. The missus has missed a period and the pregnancy test came back negative twice.

Time to worry, or time to really worry?

Clearblue tests are very good, but I've been told that First Response tests are the most sensitive. It is best if she tests first thing in the morning, as the hormone HCG is most concentrated then.

The level of HCG gets stronger daily into pregnancy, so she should test in a week or so again.

There are several other reasons for a missed period too - stress can delay it, or other medical reasons can disrupt a cycle. Stressing over a missed period can also delay it.

as neyite said - plenty of reasons for a missed period. i myself have mnissed some when i travelled long haul, after surgery (i guess that was mainly stress) and some medications have interferred too. if she started the pill in the last 6 months that can make you skip a period.

    Hi OP,

Ok if she took the tests properly, Ie first thing in the morning then I think its very likely there's nothing to worry about. It's quite common to miss periods. I missed mine for 10 months once. Was a bit anxious in month number 9 (not really though) but sometimes it just happens.

Best thing she can do is visit the GP. He';ll put her mind at rest. And they'll do a preg test aswell which'll confirm what she already knows.

But if you've tested twice and the result is no then I wouldn't worry about it.

    how over is she?

you can get false negs but not false postives, if its a few days then try a clear blue next week.

My sister did a whole chemists worth of pregnancy tests when she stopped getting her periods. Over a 6month period every single one was negative, she didn't worry too much as had just come off the pill, went to see the doctor bout something completely unrelated, mentioned it and he did a pregnancy test and 3months later she had a baby. Not to freak you out but pregnancy tests aren't the most accurate and even if she's not pregnant she needs to see a doc to find out whats causing her to miss her periods.

Short end of the stick is she should probably schedule a GP visit. There's a time when you should probably seek the advic of an expert ;)

The thing about missing periods is that it can happen for a variety of reasons, but the moment you start thinking 'im late, i could be pregnant' is the moment you start getting stressed, which delays them even more! Catch 22 :)

That said, if she has enough HCG hormone to miss periods, she should probably have enough for it to register on a pregnancy test. In theory at least. But as others have said, pop down to the GP. Pricey, but worth it for an answer/peace of mind

    I guess its panic over?

perhaps. but you should still consult a GP about the abnormality of missing 2 Periods. I dont know why you wouldnt.

    She only missed one :)

No, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Even if your periods are like clockwork, if you go to a GP saying that you've missed your period but you're not pregnant, he'll tell you to come back when you've missed another one.

Missed periods and multiple missed periods are quite common, especially in women with irregular periods.
